Freemon Redmon Circle a first
On October 19, 2021 a crowd gathered at WE26 to commemorate the naming of a new private street for one of the first black landowners in Scarborough. Freemon Redmond Circle at WE26 is named in honour of Freemon Redmon, a businessman active in mentoring and uplifting members of his Scarborough community. Freemon Redmon owned farmland before Warden Avenue existed, land that is very close to the site of WE26. Deputy Mayor and Councillor Michael Thompson spoke to the crowd who included members of Freemon Redmon’s family and friends. Insoho Developments President Ron Herczeg addressed the assembly, saying what a privilege it is for WE26 to play a part in honouring the memory of this special man.
