Eglinton LRT will transform the Golden Mile

Living at WE26 means you are just a stroll from a revolutionary new way of getting around the city. With 25 stations along its dedicated route from Kennedy to Mount Dennis, the Eglinton LRT will get you places much quicker than before—up to 60 percent faster. You’ll be able to travel from the Golden Mile to Yonge & Eglinton, for instance, in about 22 minutes. Faster than a streetcar, bus or subway, the Crosstown LRT’s dedicated lane partly above-ground and partly below, means you will never be stuck behind a line of cars or buses. The Crosstown LRT also connects with more transit across midtown than ever before, accessing the TTC Yonge-University line at both Yonge and Cedarvale, the TTC Bloor-Danforth and Scarborough lines at Kennedy and linking with GO stations and a large network of buses. The Eglinton LRT is due to be completed in 2022.

The Star interviewed early purchasers and photographed them along with Insoho Developments President Ron Herczeg at WE26’s sales centre on Bertrand Avenue. The Star feature story can be read in full. Family Day at historic Scarborough Museum

Scarborough Museum

February calls for fun! This Family Day, February 17, the place to be is Scarborough Museum at 1007 Brimley Road. Outdoors, build a snowman and take part in an ice cube scavenger hunt. Watch a blacksmith ply his trade. Roast marshmallows by the bonfire, then head inside to warm up in one of the museum’s historic kitchens where you’ll find cooking demonstrations. Don’t leave without enjoying a hearty bowl of potato soup or a mug of hot chocolate. Pay what you can. Set in scenic Thomson Memorial Park on land once farmed by early settlers, the museum includes four heritage buildings including an 1850s log cabin. It’s a popular spot for events, school trips and camps. The museum is about 10 minutes from WE26.
